TECO Peoples Gas Responding to Explosion in Broward County

Incident is under investigation, cause remains unknown

Representatives from TECO Peoples Gas are working closely with first responders and local law enforcement to respond to and investigate the cause of an explosion in South Florida.

The explosion occurred before noon today in The Market at Plantation Center shopping center in Plantation. Our thoughts are with those who were injured.

Upon arriving at the scene, the company’s first priority was to ensure the immediate area was safe while emergency personnel responded. Technicians found no natural gas leaks, and they shut off natural gas service to the area as a precaution.

The incident is currently under investigation, and the cause is unknown.
