Just in time for Earth Day, Peoples Gas named Environmental Champion

Customers value utility’s environmental commitment

TECO Peoples Gas, Florida's largest natural gas distribution utility, is being celebrated among the country’s energy utilities for environmental leadership, according to a customer survey conducted by Cogent Reports, a division of Market Strategies-Morpace.

Peoples Gas has been designated an “Environmental Champion” for the fifth year in a row based on high scores in the Environmental Dedication index of Cogent’s annual Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement study.

“We are pleased that our customers appreciate the environmental benefits of using natural gas to fuel their homes and businesses,” said T.J. Szelistowski, president of Peoples Gas. “As part of our commitment to safely deliver natural gas across the state, we prioritize the protection and preservation of Florida’s lands and waterways.”

Additionally, Peoples Gas was named a Most Trusted Utility Brand in the United States by Cogent Reports in 2018 for the fourth year in a row and has been designated a Customer Champion by the same group for five years running.

Peoples Gas System, Florida’s largest natural gas distribution utility, serves about 390,000 customers across Florida. Peoples Gas is a subsidiary of Emera Inc., a geographically diverse energy and services company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
