The People of Peoples Gas: Aaron

As Sarasota continues to grow, contractors and construction crews are constantly breaking ground for new home, business and infrastructure projects throughout the region. Before they dig, Aaron helps them understand the importance of calling 811.

Aaron serves as a Senior Damage Prevention Coordinator for Peoples Gas in Sarasota. With more than 13 years of experience in the natural gas industry, he primarily works with contractors and homeowners to promote safe digging practices and encourages them to call 811 before digging.

Whether he's visiting job sites, educating crews or reviewing projects near our natural gas system, Aaron focuses on one goal: helping people stay safe.

"I think that's the biggest thing, to promote 811 and make sure everyone is aware of it," Aaron says. "You have to call before you dig."

Sunshine 811 is a free service that helps identify the approximate location of underground utilities. Taking the simple step to contact 811 at least two business days before digging can help prevent injuries, protect critical infrastructure and avoid service interruptions that affect homes, businesses and entire communities.

Sharing Aaron's story on 811 Day is a great reminder that safe digging is a shared responsibility. Whether you're planting a tree, installing a mailbox or starting a larger construction project, knowing what's below before you dig helps keep everyone safe.
