Utility’s customers value environmental commitment and business ease
TAMPA, April 28, 2021
Peoples Gas again was recognized for environmental stewardship and ease to do business with in Escalent’s annual Cogent Syndicated Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement residential study.
Designated an “Environmental Champion” for the seventh year in a row, the utility achieved high scores in the Environmental Dedication index of the study. Among the factors most important to customers are a utility’s efforts to support environmental causes and dedication to clean energy.
“It’s a privilege to be recognized for our commitment to the environment as we deliver safe, reliable and sustainable energy across the state,” said Timothy O’Connor, Vice President of Sustainability for Peoples Gas. “We’re helping our customers use energy wisely and investing in new technologies and modernizing our operations to help reduce our carbon footprint and fuel Florida’s clean energy future.”
Peoples Gas tied for second out of the 38 utilities named “Easiest to Do Business With,” based on high scores in the study’s Customer Effort Index. The study measures customer touchpoints such as making payments, ease of using the company’s website and mobile access.
“I am so proud of our team members, especially our sales and customer service representatives, who were able to pivot to working remotely during the pandemic while maintaining our high standard of service,” said Karen Sparkman, Vice President of Customer Service for Peoples Gas. “We’ve also made strides to provide an excellent digital experience and we’re grateful to our customers for acknowledging our efforts.”
Last year, Peoples Gas received the highest overall Brand Trust score in the nation for the sixth year in a row in the 2020 Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement: Residential study. The Cogent Syndicated study provides a comprehensive view into utilities’ relationships with their residential customers. Peoples Gas also has been repeatedly designated a Customer Champion by the same group.
