When protecting damaged roofs, natural gas customers are urged to allow air to flow through the venting associated with gas appliances, like water heaters or furnaces. Vent blockage can cause an accumulation of carbon monoxide inside the home, which can be poisonous and even deadly.
If a natural gas system or natural gas venting is damaged, customers should contact a plumber or a qualified service contractor for natural gas appliances. Check the Appliance Sales and Service Providers listed, or call Peoples Gas at 1-877-832-6747 option 4 for a provider nearest you.
