Information on Direct Debit Payment Program
The Direct Debit Payment program allows Peoples Gas customers to pay your monthly bill electronically on an “automatic” or continuous monthly basis.
Direct Debit Payment will automatically pay your Peoples Gas bill each month. A copy of your bill will be mailed to you at least 10 days before the payment is deducted from your checking or savings account.
How to enroll
- The service is free of charge.
- It may take up to two billing cycles for your Direct Debit to become activated. Please examine your monthly bill to ensure automatic payment. The top of your bill will state “Do Not Pay” if Direct Debit is activated. If you do not see the notation on your monthly statement, continue to make your monthly payment until you see “Do Not Pay” on your bill.
- To enroll, click on Enroll in or Change Information for Direct Debit Payment Program.
- Or, call 1-877-832-6747 and choose option #2 to speak to a customer service representative. You will receive a form in the mail to return to Peoples Gas with a voided check.
Once enrolled
- If you change your bank or your banking account while enrolled in the Direct Debit program, follow the same steps you did for enrolling in the program. The change may take up to two billing cycles to take affect. You will want to pay your bill manually during this period.
To discontinue Direct Debit
- You must submit a request in writing to discontinue Direct Debit Payment.
- You may choose to complete the Cancel Direct Debit Payment Program form online
- To cancel by fax, submit a signed and dated letter that includes your Peoples Gas account number to:
